The University of Western Ontario
The University of Western Ontario is a leading centre of learning and research with 1,164 faculty members and almost 29,000 undergraduate and graduate students. Through its 12 Faculties and Schools, and three affiliated Colleges, Western has the highest per capita investment in public research of any university located in one of Canada's tenth largest cities.
Research is an integral part of the University's mission with external support for research projects totalling over $220 million per year. There are 4,500 active research projects at Western. Four key areas of research strength at Western are life sciences and the human condition; the human and physical environments; social trends, public policy and economic activity and; culture, analysis and values. Western's research success is made possible in no small part by its involvement with various collaborative partners: Hospitals / Research Institutes. The University's affiliations with the London Health Sciences Centre, Lawson Health Research Institute and Robarts Research Institute allow Western to play a leading role in medical education and to foster a collaborative environment for clinical research.
Fanshawe College, also based in London, currently collaborates with Western on several research projects, including The Three Little Pigs - a project measuring the impact of high winds upon residential structures - Rebuilding Health In Rwanda - an international project to strengthen nursing training and health care delivery in Rwanda, and SHARCNET - a project involving high performance computing. Western and Fanshawe are continuing to explore innovative ways to encourage future collaborations in applied research, and knowledge and technology transfer.
Western has created an online database that will allow you to search out current research either by faculty, researcher name, or subject area. Click here to start your search
